Gary Thompson, Managing Director
Gary Thompson is the founding Director of Afirmacon. He is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and licensed builder with over 40 years' experience in the construction industry. He established Afirmacon in March 2018 and serves clients in Queensland and nationally from offices in Cairns and Buderim.
Gary commenced his career in 1985 with Anchor Industries, a Cairns-based commercial and industrial building contractor. In 2002, he joined a national quantity surveying firm as Director, bringing his detailed knowledge of the local subcontract market, hands-on building experience, and expertise across a wide range of project types. As part of the senior leadership team, Gary headed the Construction Expert Opinion Division nationally before establishing Afirmacon.

Risk management: Mitigation of project risks, including supply chain constraints, procurement challenges, and commercial exposure. Consultation and negotiation: Skilled engagement with contractors, clients, legal representatives, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues, clarify entitlements, and support informed decision-making.
